In the year 2008 we have a black man running for president.... and we get this!!
There is an Obama Station in Fukui Perfecture, in Japan. Japanese blog Daily Portal Z, went to do a story and decided blackface would be appropriate...... whwhwhh whaaat?!

Ironically before i received this link (asante InfodivaMLIS!!) the night before watching the boob tube I view the newest DISHnetwork ad with Frank Caliendo. Frank C., is a great impersonator... so in this ad, he is impersonating Charles Barkley, in what.. yesss.. Blackface! Funny thang (not really) Frank C, did this same bit infront of Barkley on TNT, and the militant Bark did not bite, or do anything. Similar to Jimmy Kimmel doing Karl Malone... (i could not stomache putting the video of Jim K, talking incorrect English in blackface)

...and just wait til halloween when we all get emailed some new pictures of some college party with white kids in blackface.

News organizations and ingnant folk have the nerve to say race relations are getting better, like racists dont exists anymore. They do. Then, the talk of "politically correct" - like race, gender, and beliefs dont have value in this society. Race, gender and beliefs have changed this world with wars, slavery, servitude, predujice, etc., so it is of high importance to respect beliefs, races and cultures. Step your game up black folk, many of the struggles we have fought against still exist.

The Congress called a hearing on Hip Hop called, 'From Imus to Industry: The business of stereotypes and degrading images,' but peep, with no Imus. Video clips, reading of lyrcis with the N word, B word, and all that. This hearing supposedly is to discuss the blame for "sexist and degrading language in hip-hop music."

Didnt we see this before?? With C. Delores Tucker, the attack on Tupac, Luke and the 2 Live Crew, and upon African bodies hanging from trees as strange fruit all across this land. Is the Naacp hanging a noose in NY because they trying to hang mo niggers. In 2007 we have been rallying for the Freedom of the Jena 6, and now we need to rally for the Freedom of Hip Hop!

Lets make this plain. This land called Amerikkka was founded on genocide and slavery, it continues to profit in this way throughout its policies home and abroad. But Black Males who grab a mic are the problem? That dont fly, homie. Dont do dat dunn. Now Congress calls Hip Hop to the table, not Don Imus, not President Bush, no Larry Flynt, not Ozzy Osborne, not .... hope u get the point. As Chuck D would say it, Who are the Real Criminals? This farce mixed with some truth, brought out Master P, David Banner, Michael Eric Dyson, and a host full of "hip hop" intelligencia.... basically folks who write about hip hop but are not hip hop. Props due to D. Banner for holding it down, referring to Slavery, Katrina and the assault on Black Males.

Michael Eric Dyson, also brought the pain along with Lisa Fager from Industry Ears who brought out statistics on media and many great examples. Rep. Bobby Rush (former Black Panther) said he is a fan of hip hop, and brought out many great questions. Fans, makers and artists in hip hop stand together, the real attack is on the power of the Black Male, otherwise we would see this focus on all forms of entertainment and media. this aint nothing new around the bay. in the 90s old heads will remember Daundaground and the other powerful folks in the BAY AREA HIP-HOP COALITION
aka: BAHHC . Formed to have a movement in bay area radio. The bay needs this kind of organizing back, and then some. Hate to put it out there but we were the revolutionaires of this time... fighting against a university, letters from the government, and we played BAY music... in fact we were the only station doing so.... just like today you heard a lot of east coast and other.

KMEL has never been for the community, never. You may have had some people who were there who were trying to make change but the station the establishment, never. We were the anti-kmel.
You young cats dont remember how they did the Godfather Too Short?! He even had to make a song about them. Ive been waiting for years for the bay to get it together, build a station, build a real bay label with everybody, really show our power. Part of the added problem the real Djs from the community dont get shine, they prop up these folks who wouldnt ever be down with these artists, and put them on radio, and now they down and a celebrity. With they fake antics, they adopted slang.. and all that... i dont listen to the radio and you shouldnt either, unless its college radio, who attempts to keep the music relative. And yes a large portion of you youngstas, and KMEL was never down with Mac Dre... i remember when a lot of the bay was serious hating on Dre while he was locked up....! Now they got him on a shirt like he latest fashion.

Yes the bay needs to take it back to the MOBB. Where we didnt make music for the radio. When the Hyphy youngstas start learning their history, and start listening to the game from the MOBB artists.... VWhite, Richie Rich, Deliquents, Askari X, Keak... etc. may be we can form a real movement. Can u dig dat?

East Oakland Commmunity High Set to Close While Murder Rate Increases

Oakland California was the victim of 148 murders in the year of 2006. This upcomming year Oakland will be the victim of East Oakland Community High School closing, as well as 3 other schools: Sherman Elementary, Kismit Middle, and Merrit Middle College Prep. After 2 years of service to the community, ESO Community High will get shut down. This school with the Avenues Project has exposed the youth to Arts, Education, Job Skills, Life Skills, and has overall giving the kids hope in the city of 400,000. A visit to their website cant help but leave you impressed, with Black Panther History Day, discussions with the Brown Berets, on site education of the US Border, and more, it makes the conscious person think .. WHY WOULD THEY CLOSE A SCHOOL THAT HAS BEEN SO PROGRESSIVE AFTER ONLY 2 YEARS!! With a 57% increase in murders from the previous year and the most murders the city has seen since 1993, the assualt is on against the youth of Oakland. How can the lack of programs, the lack of jobs and the high rate of murders not seem related... in 1993 Sideshows were at an all time high, with the reports on Sideshows in Oakland recently the need for the youth to do something should be evident. Askari X Free'd, and some History of the Oakland Streets

The Oakland Rap Revolutionairy Askari X, is now back on the Oakland Streets. From his ascent to the legendary status of pioneering Bay Area Rap Artist to his alignment to the Struggle for liberation of Black People, Askari X has been a target. Throughout his years in the 41510 (Oakland Sf Bay Area) Askari has gone in and out of prison for whatever reason the OPD (Oakland Police Departement) could find. The Revolutionairy songs and his workings with NPDUM nowInPDUM and the Ansars Askari educated many Black Youth on Revolution. Starting with the Ansars, then continuing to the RBG's Askari was at the forefront of conscious music. Askari's first album Ward of the State released in 1992 put down the RBGs. Righteous Black Guerrillas waaay before it was coined by the NY group Dead Prez. The DPz to their credit have continued the struggle even reaching out to Askari in the past years. In the 90s, yours truely Kingofblaxmedia spent time with InPDUM in the Uhuru house on Foothill Blvd in Oakland. Tales always arose of Askari and his strength to fight for his people. Willie Hutch was a true Pioneer. His soundtrack to The Mack was an instant classic. Along with the film which examined the Pimp Game and the Black Power Game in Oakland California, the soundtrack proved to be just as important as the film images. The film starring and written by Max Julien gave light to struggles of Oakland. Willie Though born in Los Angeles and growing up in Texas his music provided the soundtrack to much in the Bay. Passing in 2005 Willie's music lives on and is featured above performing Slick on Soul Train.

Kiri Davis film 'A Girl Like Me'

Kiri Davis film 'A Girl Like Me' explores a subject explored by Brown vs Board Education, Eyes on the Prize, and Tupac in a film that needs all recognition it is getting. Kiri Davis , 17, from Urban Academy put out this film after learning about the original experiment with Black Children and Dolls conducted in the 1960s. Her film examines the 1954 test Kenneth Clark used in the Brown vs Board Education Case. Showing Black Dolls and White Dolls to Black Children and just asking questions. These studies have been explored as the ongoing psychological affects of Slavery, and ongoing negative images portrayed in culture and institutions against people of color. 8 men arrested over 1971 death

San Francisco authorities have arrested over 8 men in connection with the murder of Sgt. John V. Young. Young was killed after an attack at an San Francisco police station. These men are being blamed for that crime and being in connection with a bombing of a police funeral in San Francisco and the slayings of two New York City police officers, as well as three armed bank robberies. Murder and conspiracy charges were filed against Ray Michael Boudreaux, 64, of Altadena; Richard Brown, 65, of San Francisco; Herman Bell, 59, and Anthony Bottom, 55, both behind bars in New York state; Henry Watson Jones, 71, of Altadena; Francisco Torres, 58, of New York City; and Harold Taylor, 58, of Panama City, Fla. These arrests are a continuing assault on leaders and fighters of Black America. Documents, testimony and government agents have attested for the work of Cointelpro. Cointelpro was and IS a government agency devised to destroy, desrupt and kill of leaders of the Black Community. These attacks have been done using many falsehoods, informants, and other counterinsurgency tactics. Should the American public believe these new charges, knowing the government has worked with the KKK, and other groups to create deaths and fake cases based on fake evidence, and fake testimony, to kill off the 'rise of a Black Messiah'. Why are these cases comming to court now? To continue the attack on the black phsyce, to continue the work of Cointlepro and set an example to those who oppose the government, and worldwide oppression. MLK's secretary Dora McDonald, has just passed days before the holiday, at the age of 81. Dora went to work for MLK Jr. in 1960, and was the one who notified Coretta Scott King of her husbands death April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tenn.

The Real King of Rap, the Godfather of Soul, James Brown passed on Christmas Day. Passing on Xmas was fitting for James, so he will be loved even more each December 25th. Spike Lee along with producer Brian Grazer, are currently working on a Biopic on James Brown. Before his passing James Brown was working with the project and the screenwriters. Spike will do James justice.. brining the joy and pain, along with the JB moves. Just remember the days when you attempted to be James Brown on the kitchen floor with socks... yeah those were the days.

The beginning of Hip Hop included hard rock beats, and of course James Brown. The most sampled artist there is and probably will be, we respectfully still love ya JB, and will still bump your jams from old and sample them for the new. For the younger heads JB even did work with Hip Hop, the greatest is the Godfather of Soul with the Leader of the Zulu Nation. James Brown and Afrika Bambaataa.... peep... RIP Brother James..

Public Enemy and X-Clan Bring the Noise to SF !!

Rap groups have come and gone, and are still forming everyday... but one still stands atop the Hip Hop legacy, Public Enemy. The group consisting of the great MC Chuck D, the best hypeman on the planet Flavor Flav, Professor Griff, and the Security of the 1st World (S1WS), have been holding it down since 87'. Always a voice for the Afrikan Diaspora, the conscious lyrics and revolutionairy beats has enabled PE to be the soundtrack for the Struggle of Afrikans worldwide. PE, Xclan, The Banned, and Prozack (Cfunk)put it down last week at the Mezzanine in San Francisco.

Rage and CLG stepped out to the Mezzanine in San Francisco on a wet Wednesday to see the packed event. The concert started out with the one and only Cfunk, now Prozack, from EPA. Pro put out the classic Rated X album back in the day.. (more on that on upcomming post) and came out with a couple songs. Of course a majority of the crowd, except the old skool heads knew who the cat was.. Kevy Kev from KZSU was in the house, ironically he was the first to play PE on bay area radio. Xclan had the crowd moving doing old skool, and couple of the new album kutz. Check the XClan Site to hear some of the musik, and get some news. RIP to Professor X who was surely missed in spirit in SF, but the Xclan crew still holds it down on stage. African flags, Red, Black and Green(blood,people,land), and African Martial arts on stage can only be outdone by PE. PE came on stage with the S1Ws (Security of the First World) with Griff, Flavor Flav, Chuck D, DJ Lord with The Banned. The Banned was the live live band who help open up the show... the call this group a band is an understatement, them cats could jam with the best, especially the guitarist. PE performed like always a great, long show full of education and energy. Flavor Flav brought many new fans out, as easily seen in the hyped crowd. Flav even performed Flavor Man and some of his new kutz. Waaay back in the day I enjoyed PE at their first Bay performance at the Fresh Fest in Oakland, at the Colesium...boy that was a show... and the group is just as great now. In honor of the bay, the BARS Awards, and the end of the year comming up.. we revisit the "State of the Emergency" Conference. The Bay Area Hip Hop scene is more than Hyphy, and Hyphy aint nothing new.. its just a name to the Bay Movement that has been in existence since Too Short first sold the all white tape outta his trunk. This conference from October 2004 was a spark to the "Hyphy" movement, by helping organize, and unify many bay artists. Artist featured in the video include:

Ok, now Damon Wayans goes to the Laugh Factory the same place as the inncident.. and does a bit. Of course he goes off on Michael Bitchards.. in his routine. Reportedly (dont know who counted) Damon said the N-word 18 times in 20 minutes.. lol. Sticking to their new policy the Laugh Factory has banned D. Wayans until further notice...

Coup in Bus Accident on Tour in Diego !!

December 2nd outside of Diego, the bus carring the members of the Coup, Mr. Lif,and DJ Big Wiz, crashed and caught fire. DJ Big Wiz, Zarha (friend and merch assistant to Mr. Lif), and SILK-E (The Coup)are said to be the baddest hurt. But all injuries are reportedly recoverable, but the tour will not continue.

"Approximately 40 miles outside of San Diego the tour bus that Mr. Lif, the Coup, DJ Big Wiz, Metro, and other friends of theirs were on flipped over and burst into flames. Miraculously, everyone managed to escape with their lives. There were injuries suffered in varying degrees raging from minor to serious, but everyone is essentially OK and getting treated in various hospitals." --said from El-P the Def Jux head
