Grandmaster Flash and F5 bum rush the Rock & Roll HOF


Just announced and to be honored at a ceremony on March 12, 2007 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City, GMF and F5 are the very 1st rap group to be recognized in the Rock in Roll Hall of Fame. 'We couldn't be more proud to honor this unique, diverse group of rockers, rappers, singers and poets. This is what rock and roll is all about' Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation President and C.E.O., Joel Peresman. The others to make it to the HOF are R.E.M., The Ronettes, Patti Smith and Van Halen. 25 yrs after your first recording, artists become eligible. Most young heads may not know much of Grandmaster Flash, unless you caught a glimpse of him kicking knowledge at the ATL Hip Hop Awards (oops BET). The crew will be honored also at the museum in Cleveland, Ohio. Grandmaster Flash is credited for pioneering scratching, beat juggling, and pioneering beat machines. The group includes Kid Creole, Cowboy, Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel, Mr. Ness,and Raheim.
